HUTCHINSON (HHS GYM) - The Annual Kansas Wiz Kids Basketball Camp was held on June 21-23 at the Hutchinson High School north gym. The Camp is Sponsored by the Hutchinson YMCA and is Coached by Darrin Regier who coached the Kansas Wiz Kids Basketball team for over 10 years in the early 2000’s. The Wiz Kids Camp was filled to capacity with 55 kids. Camp size is kept small so there can be more one on one with all the players during each of the 3 sessions held. Since this camp fills quickly, it is important to register early to reserve your spot. This year the camp had a Student from Iceland that attended the Camp and he is already planning on returning for next year’s camp. Most of the students are from the Hutchinson/Wichita area. The Camp focuses on Ball Control, Shooting, Passing and Teamwork and requires individual and group participation. “I feel we have one of the finest camps around” Regier said. “When the kids are having fun and laughing while working hard, you know you are doing something right for the kids. After 3 days of work with these kids, I noticed everyone made improvement in themselves”, added Regier. Assisting Regier this year was Tim Hendrixson from Haven, Coleman Jordan from Nickerson and Devon Wenthe from Inman. Submitted by Darrin Regier Photos courtesy of Darrin Regier |
