The final dodgeball game of the season was on July 2 and the excitement could not have been any better. Teams filled the Hutchinson YMCA to take on theirs rivals in their season finally. As you entered the gym, all you can hear is the dodgeballs hitting the walls and the crowds cheering the kids on. Then all of a sudden, you would hear the crowd laughing as they witnessed a great jump or a dodge from a player. Then the laughing would continue if the players made some great hits to keep the crowd entertained.
Dodgeball is offered for boys and girls in 1st through 8th grade and every Tueday, the boys and girls would lead the way to the Y with mom, dad, siblings and grandparents close behind.
The 5th/6th Grade Royal Blue team ended the season with a perfect record. No team could shut them down as they hurled the dodgeballs with pinpoint accuracy and a little luck. “Dodgeball is such a fun sport to watch and it is great to see the kids and parents having fun” stated Darrin Regier YMCA Sports Director. “The older kids have some great games but the young ones are so fun to watch. The little ones watch the big kids and learn from them”, added Regier.
Next Dodgeball season will be in April so be looking for those forms in your schools and join the fun in the wonderful world of Dodgeball.
