HUTCHINSON (YMCA) - Dodgeballs were flying through the air Tuesday June 18th at the Hutchinson YMCA as the 7th/8th graders took to the court for their weekly dodgeball game.
Team Hutch, wearing maroon, was playing Team Trinity, who wore blue, this night and the court was full of action. These kids had to duck, dive, drop and dodge the 3 green balls that were being launched from the other side of the court.
Accuracy is the key but many times the arm and ball does not agree as it misses its intended target.
“It’s nice to see the kids at this age play for the fun of it and have smiles on their faces when they get hit” said Darrin Regier YMCA Sports Director. “This is a type of sport you want to win but not a big deal if you lose” added Regier.
The game went on for 8 rounds before a tiebreaker round was played to name the winner. Team Hutch, Coached by Ed Howard took the win 5 to 4 from Team Trinity, coached by Ted Reimer.
This game is as exciting as it gets and the most important thing was, all the kids had fun tonight.
